PressThink: Stark Message for the Legacy Media
Excellent article, found after being linked from Glenn Reynolds, who's own work is definitely worth taking a look at if you haven't already. Makes me proud of the fact that at least at the tiny little school paper I copy edit for, we take the time to really research things, and aren't afraid to admit that we may goof up once in a while, but not through the sloppiness (or worse) being shown through things such at this CBSNews saga.
The interesting thing I've been saying all along, and the secretary for the deceased alleged memo author reiterated yesterday, is that the information in the memos is probably correct. Bush surely didn't have any type of fantastic Guard service. But forging documents when there are real ones, albeit incredibly difficult to locate? How desperate is it getting when you have to resort to that? Very Nixon-esque.
Looks like Democrats may have been right in their initial dismissal of Kerry, back when he was losing to Sharpton in some of the polls. He's running an abysmal campaign that employs a strategy that I like to call late-Robert E. Lee--defensive, but with ill-timed and sporadic attacks that don't have a concentrated purpose and therefore little effect. It's getting so bad that lifelong Democrats who think Bush sucks won't vote for Kerry.
Well, that's enough politics for now. I'm really buying into this whole blogging thing, aren't I.
