Afternoon Baseball

Common-sense ruminations on baseball and culture.

ESPN.com recap

First of all, corniest lead ever: "Jason Giambi and Bernie Williams socked it to Curt Schilling, and Mariano Rivera stitched up the victory for the Yankees." Oh man.
Lost in the shuffle was the just-good-enough performance by Jaret Wright (all any serious fan can expect), the excellent relief by Sturtze, and the tease of Bernie Williams' three hits and a HR. He's done, folks. But there should be more than enough offense to allow him a .270, 18, 70 season and bad defense. After all, nobody else can really play defense either.
