Now, Nomo was a great pitcher in Japan, and had strong seasons here. But those days are over. He's terrible. Not that the Leiter-Santana matchup is anything to get excited about.
Although Santana appears a bit overrated at the moment. Strikout machine and very solid pitcher, yes. But his Gibson-esque second half of last year was clearly an aberration, and his usualy 3.50-4.00 ERA appears to be more the norm. He also doesn't complete games, not that anyone does that much.
But still, he's ace material and doesn't appear to mind that expectation.
Bat-Girl remains the best place for Twins talk, and thankfully, she doesn't think that overanalyzing stats is the only way to talk about baseball.
