Common-sense ruminations on baseball and culture.

I can't believe a Derek Jeter home run won a game. I've long since stopped expected long balls from this guy. But he's hitting .309 now, and had 2 doubles to go along with the dinger. The Yanks, more importantly, got a win in a game that deserved one after Scott Proctor, the emergency starter, managed to throw 5 innings with just 2 runs allowed (almost the most surprising start of the day, beaten out by Greg Maddux's 12-hit, 4-run CG).
Rivera tied Reardon for 5th on the all-time saves list, by the way, if my math is correct.
