Afternoon Baseball

Common-sense ruminations on baseball and culture.

Back home in Connecticut, where I am at the moment, I still have to deal with dial-up. It's terrible. I don't bother to look at half the pages I normally would just because it takes too long.
I really do miss the superb and always-working high-speed lines I had in Minnesota and Missouri.
However, I don't miss much the Loyola College network. It had a nice habit of just randomly deciding to kick tons of people offline for no reason, then starting up again at some point, again without any cause and effect. Usually, I could never see the effect, because I too was affected.
However, about 5 minutes ago, I saw about 30 people on my buddy list suddenly all sign off within a minute of each other. Every single one, of course, is on Loyola's campus. It's a subtle reminder that my Internet connection may be crap, but it's reliable.
And I don't have to install Loyola spy software just to get online, either.
