Just an interesting look at how much more on the ball San Francisco and assorted governments were in a disaster response, in an area that would be considered frontier today, without planes, media more advanced than telegraph, refridgeration, mass production of automobiles, and countless other amenities at our disposal nowadays.
Earthquakes are not quite the same as a catastrophic flood that literally drowns a city. But really, we couldn't have done better?
