I don't see the need to suddenly require suits, or at least the jacket part. And no jeans, either. First of all, Michael Jordan wore expensive suits all the time, but he stood out. As he should. We're not in the age anymore of everyone dressing up. People who do so are taking an extra, classy step, but if everyone is made to do that, then it cancels out the effect.
Secondly, take a look at (especially) the 1970s. Those plaid and pastel and striped suits look terrible. Not classy at all. Jimmy Carter and Johnny Carson might as well have gone shirtless during the late-70s because that would have been a more sophisticated, less awful look. So dressing up is not automatically a good thing.
