Compiled through crime statistics by Morgan Quitno Press, good ol' Baltimore makes it on the list. Funny thing, though, it's a very sectional city. You couldn't possibly be safer in north Baltimore (particularly Roland Park). But there are other parts where quite frankly, if something happens to you, then you are probably asking for it because you didn't belong there in the first place.
Cary, North Carolina, is the 10th-safest city. Nice place. I've been there twice for the Great American Cross Country Festival. I don't know where the actual people live, though, which is maybe why it's safe. There was just miles and miles of highway, hotels and bland corporate buildings, and then the enormous racecourse area.
