Common-sense ruminations on baseball and culture.

ESPN.com Page 2 -- The Sports Guy

As much as I love the Sports Guy, we rarely have exactly the same thoughts when it boils down to serious thinking on an issue. With T.O., though, we appear to be fairly close in opinion, although he, fairly, substitutes "mainstream media" in for ESPN alone.
The key is that neither of us excuse T.O., but we have some perspective and can tell the difference between a guy with an attitude and a guy who throws games, does drugs, commits felonies, and the like. T.O. is the former, not the latter.

Nice to see Bill Simmons also not spare his ESPN colleagues, even if he doesn't specifically go after names. I, for one, have had enough of Skip Bayless' holier-than-thou, told-you-so attitude toward T.O. Bayless may be right that T.O. dropped a lot of crucial passes near the end of his San Fran tenure, but he comes dangerously close to saying T.O. tried to lose on purpose, but doesn't have any real evidence or quotes to back that up.
