It's a good question. Gene Wojo was much better as a contributor than he is as a full-time ESPNer (he's been revealed as that formulaic local guy that every small paper has), but he's right on the money with this question. Matt Millen has basically destroyed a franchise that has had more ups than downs, surely, but could always scrap and claw towards the playoffs.
In the NFL, it's actually difficult to be terrible for many years. Yet, other than Arizona (the Texans don't count, by the way), Detroit has consistently been the worst team in the NFL since Barry Sanders retired. Quite honestly, you examine their win totals, and you wonder how they were even that good. This is not just in terms of record, but in terms of talent, attitude and a plan for the future. At some point, doesn't the architect of that futility need to take some responsibility?
Let's put it this way: If the Ford family ran their namesake company in the way they run the Lions...you know the rest.
