Afternoon Baseball

Common-sense ruminations on baseball and culture.

I'm off to Baltimore for the weekend, the new home of Ramon Hernandez and the spot of griping from Miguel Tejada, who suddenly realizes that 6 years in Baltimore isn't the dream he felt it would be. More likely, it's the dual realization that he could get more money now as well as that he'll never get a contract as big as the one he has now. Poor guy.

The Orioles are the worst-case scenario for any Blue Jays fan, by the way. Even as a Yankee fan, I hope that's not the way it turns out for Toronto.

I'll be back late Monday, unless I sneak something in over the weekend.

Baseball event I'd like to see: Manny for Tejada. Clemens with the Yanks, or barring that, back with the Blue Jays in the ultimate shocker. David Wells back with the Padres.

Music stuck on my brain: "I Got You" ~ Stone Temple Pilots, "Young Offenders" ~ The Constantines, "All You Need" ~ Sublime, "All My Friends" ~ Our Lady Peace, "Death On Two Legs" ~ Rooney cover of Queen, "Smokestack Lightning" ~ whoever did like the 10-minute version, "Born To Be Wild" ~ Blue Oyster Cult version.

Also, stop snowing, upstate N.Y.
