The above blog (nice enough to link to me, thanks!) details the folly of believing in the future prospects of Al Lieter.
I think he was a good pickup given the circumstances in 2005. Also, a minor-league contract isn't such a bad thing, since the Yanks are under no obligation to promote him. However, since he quickly became one of Torre's guys, unless he absolutely is atrocious in the minors, he'll likely get a shot at some point in 2006.

Didn't realize he had a 5.49 ERA with the Yanks. He seemed better than he was, I guess.
