Afternoon Baseball

Common-sense ruminations on baseball and culture.

I was just talking with my brother tonight about how David Robinson had scored 71 on the final day of the 1994 season to win the scoring title. We also talked about how no one save Wilt Chamberlain had scored more than 73.
Well, hours later, there's a new second place. Kobe Bryant. 81 freaking points. 81 points!

The man may never be Michael Jordan, but he's done what Jordan never did in a game. Wow. This is monumental. Even Wilt never scored 80 before or after his 100-point effort.

Just thinking of how many dirty jokes I can tell involving Kobe and this accomplishment. I'm very glad I am not writing a headline for this achievement tonight -- e.g. the title of this post. I'd probably get fired over it.
