Common-sense ruminations on baseball and culture.

SI.com - MLB

A guy I hated forever until late 2003 but now love, Ruben Sierra really didn't have a spot on the Yanks this year. He never regained his ability after hurting his hamstring driving in a winning run midseason, although before that he had been averaging better than 1 RBI every 5 at-bats from the beginning of 2004, as well as being a powerful slugger with runners on base. He also had a good influence on Robinson Cano.
The article notes that Ruben was a 4-time All-Star. Wow. I don't know if he'll even make the Twins' roster, but I hope he can eke out a few more moments. At least, I hope he can make it back to the Stadium for one last cheer -- either in uniform or at Old Timers' Day.
