First, the nice guy. The Astros' insurance claim was denied today, and Bagwell's determination to be a one-armed cripple off the bench in the 2005 playoffs appears to be the reason. There's talk of a later settlement, though, and both the 'Stros and Bags were right to let him play. At 30% he was better than almost every hitter they had.
Also, Rob Neyer (stupid Insider, sorry) comes out in favor of Bagwell as a Hall of Famer, at a time when many don't think he belongs. For once, Neyer and I are basically in agreement.
As for Bonds, if you're reading this, you probably know that he's pulled his yearly "I'm the victim" routine, saying his life is in "shambles." Well, perhaps there's some good reasons for that, and if he can find a mirror big enough to contain his bobble-like head, he'll find the source to blame for his troubles.
