I caught "Worldwide Suicide" on the radio, and it's in the recent vein of PJ: 3-minute songs that are bouncy, catchy, but gritty all the same. Almost all of Riot Act was in this style, even as there was some range displayed within the songs themselves (the opener, "Can't Keep," and closer, "All Or None," doing the best to combine all of PJ's past styles). The sublime Riot Act Matt Cameron-written outtake "In The Moonlight" from the Lost Dogs album, is also in that vein.
Cameron's drumming leads the attack, as it has from the moment he joined and woke up what had been a band adrift. The band has gradually started sounding more live in the studio, which for them is the rare case of actually sounding more authentic and less produced. Vedder's vocals are almost unintelligible at this point, despite his lyrical abilities remaining strong.
Short but sweet, I'm not blown away by this song, but the riffs ARE catchy. And you can be damn sure I'm getting the album when it comes out.
