Afternoon Baseball

Common-sense ruminations on baseball and culture.

Sid Hartman of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, who has covered the area for longer than Puckett was alive, wrote today of the man he called "the greatest Twin ever." The article might not be available after a few weeks; I'm not sure.
But Hartman said, in what could be a bit of hyperbole,

He made an impact on and off the field more than any athlete I have ever covered.

The Strib went all-out, as they should, on the great Puckett. Richard Meryhew covers the personal impact Puck had on Minnesotans. Patrick Reusse writes of the fun-loving Puckett.
And Jim Souhan talks to Eddie Guardado and Matt Lawton about the man who befriended them in their earliest days in the game.

EDIT: If these articles ever stop being accessible on the Strib site, drop a comment. I'm going to save the articles myself, and I can repost them on my own server.
