Afternoon Baseball

Common-sense ruminations on baseball and culture.

Well, not ALL of them. Abe Lincoln is still thought of by most as a great president, Babe Ruth's reputation is somehow getting better with every Barry Bonds home run, and there's some heroes who are actually living who are doing quite well.
HOWEVER...

The Yanks, or the ones that aren't lame or crippled (or in the case of Bubba Crosby, both -- haha!), are looking feisty, scrappy, and all those things that you say about crappy, undermanned teams in a desperate search to compliment them. No panicking, here, mind you, just saying that outside of one fluke ninth inning, they were no fun to watch the last four days.

LeBron stood tall for a half, but was stood up by his whole team. You can blame him, I suppose, but blaming him for a game (or two, if you count Game 6) is only acceptable in the bigger picture of great progress and great feats achieved this year. He's already had, essentially, as much success in the postseason as Kevin Garnett with a supporting cast that was weaker than virtually any Garnett could boast of -- and ditto for Kobe, who had a legitimate threat in Odom that he rarely knew how to utilize.

By the way, my weekend was very nice, but incredibly exhausting. I was pretty useless without having accomplished much of anything, other than making great time on a four-hour drive back and forth.

And yeah, that's all I've got for now. I was going to link to recent pictures of one of our favorites around here, Heather Graham, but I'm not sure I liked the look. Sorry.
