Afternoon Baseball

Common-sense ruminations on baseball and culture.

But he doesn't have to be so great with the Yankee offense, I suppose. And he is extremely old. I think the key is to expect him to be one of the better pitchers in the league (which he's been sporadically), not the best one or two pitchers in the game (which it's a stretch to say he was even in 2004).

Anyways, he's taking it in stride, which is good. He hopefully knows the big picture is team wins, and hey, he's getting his wins in too, even if they are ugly.

Jeter's down to .364. Gee, I guess he is terribly overrated.

Matsui hit a home run, which maybe means he's out of his slump. Bronx Banter talked the other day about his well-known propensity for a yearly slump around this time. The item's down a ways in the post.
