Afternoon Baseball

Common-sense ruminations on baseball and culture.

Now, Giambi has a sore neck, and Sturtze's injuries are worse than thought initially (so sad there).

Bronx Banter has a million links on this whole situation, and as usual, they point out the problem of giving Bernie Williams significant playing time. I've talked about Bernie enough, sadly, but the longer he continues to drag down this team, the more he risks damaging his legacy.

That being said, with all the injuries, it's important that he's healthy and can take some at-bats, if not outs with his glove, away from Bubba Crosby. Let's hope Melky can hit a little.

And to keep perspective, the Yankee pitching has been better-than-expected, especially Mike Mussina, who is dominating the AL right now. No Victor Zambranos here.
