Nobody's too high on the Yankees. "Fact or Fiction" on "Baseball Tonight" had both analysts saying "No" to the Yankees' playoff hopes. It's going to be difficult, for sure, as the wild card is the tougher option at the moment.
But there's lots of baseball to play, and at least this is a Yankees team that has not underachieved. It's tough to say they've overachieved when you examine the talent still being placed on the field, but the current incarnation is not truly a playoff team (or at least a postseason lock).
Eric Neel's got good thoughts.
ESPN also has a baseball history quiz. No kidding when I say that it's not an easy exam. Lots of old-time knowledge and encyclopedic memory skills are required. But I managed to score 47 out of 50 on it. I'm not lying, but I'm upset I got the site of the first All-Star game wrong. That was a relatively easy one.
