Afternoon Baseball

Common-sense ruminations on baseball and culture.

The flight that went down mysteriously and sparked every conspiracy theory imaginable -- even Pierre Salinger, one of the seemingly thousands of JFK's buddies, floating a missile theory months after it had been floated about on the then-nascent Web.
It was the center fuel tank, the experts say, after a reconstruction of 98% of the plane's bits and pieces.
I remember watching TV and seeing the reports. It was two days before the Olympics in Atlanta, which had its own explosions, and I remember the interest locally was especially big because the pilot, Capt. Steven Snyder, was a hometown resident.

On the other hand, not everyone agrees with the official explanation. No idea of how credible this is, by the way.
