Afternoon Baseball

Common-sense ruminations on baseball and culture.

Yeah, it's really, really warm. But it should be -- after all, it's August.

The pickup of Craig Wilson for little (Shawn Chacon) was a great move for the Yankees, and it can't hurt the Yankees in the field or at the plate.
Last night was a great example of solid pitching and timely hitting, and there's no reason to believe the Yankees can't stay in first place now that they are there by percentage points.

Upcoming: A look at whether A-Rod's struggles are a one-year slump or something psychological, or whether it's a sign of a long-term decline from a player with a lot of mileage on him for just turning 31. I haven't made up my mind yet, by the way.
