Afternoon Baseball

Haven't seen this man swing with such authority in a couple of years, and certainly not in the second half. But that's how he's been swinging most of the year, and it's a beautiful thing, especially considering how he's outlasted the prime of Jason Varitek. He's going to be 35 in less than two weeks, but he's managed a .289/.392/.487 while catching a lot of games without a solid backup...again.

Randy struggled again, but he's a good #3 if you believe Wang is pitching to his potential and not a little over his head.

Derek Jeter extended his hitting streak, too, adding his 24th steal. Only 22 games or so to catch Chase Utley, although I'm sure Utley (and Rollins) would trade playoff positioning.
