SI.com listed the most embarassing moments in sports, and then asked readers to suggest ones that they missed.
This one fan suggested the Roger Clemens-Mike Piazza bat-throwing incident.
Not a bad suggestion, as it distracted from the World Series and Clemens' stellar pitching that night. But this thought, from Russell Lee of Manchester, Conn., is absurd:
"His bat toss was a despicable act -- in my eyes, equally as classless as injecting oneself with steroids or betting on one's own sport."So a bat toss in the heat of the moment is as classless as the deliberate, calculated act of using steroids or betting on the game? Even if you argue that Lee is saying they are equally shameful as opposed to equally damaging or wrong, it still doesn't hold up.
One would be a fool to say Clemens should have his records taken away, as some say should happen to steroids users, or should be kept out of the Hall, as has happened to Pete Rose.
I'm picking an easy target, but SI.com shouldn't give credence to such nonsensical sentiments.
