That's what the Yanks are doing right now, mere weeks after they looked to be on the outside looking in at multiple teams. But the horizon isn't quite clear, as they enter the toughest stretch of '06. Good roundup and links on that Bronx Banter link, as well.

Think of it this way, though. At the beginning of 2006, if somebody told you Randy Johnson was your worst starter, you might have slotted Toronto in front of the Bombers. At this point, it's the Yankees race to lose, and that's a comfort, even if it's not an excuse to be cocky.

Plus, when Peter King takes the time from about 1 million words of football to say, "The American League East race is looking pretty darn over," things are going the Yankees' way.
