Afternoon Baseball

Common-sense ruminations on baseball and culture.

That's the way it's seemed with Chien-Ming Wang, the man with the 15-5 record and the 3.81 ERA. Even as Derek Jeter throws away his MVP credentials with his current slump, the team scores a whole bunch of runs as Robinson Cano improves to a .328/.355/.479 and even Nick Green gets some hits.
Wang, only in his results, reminds me of Andy Pettitte: Not quite top-tier, but underrated because he delivered when it was needed most. Also, both were much tougher than most perceived them to be.
