The Yankee offense had power, baserunning, clutch hitting, extreme patience and plate judgment, and just a lot of hitting in general. The bullpen was sharp if not dominant.
However, the defense was atrocious, A-Rod got a lot of boos before he took over the game late, and the starting pitching was shaky, if not terrible.
Sounds kind of like the Yanks we know and only sort of love the last few years, although A-Rod taking over late might make the difference.
Other thoughts:
1. Ben Sheets was dominant -- it'd be good for the game if a guy like him could stay healthy.
2. The White Sox pitching, at least for one day, is still suffering for its 2005 title. Jose Contreras gave up seven in one inning.
3. Jake Peavy and Barry Zito face off tomorrow. That's a firepower matchup that for once involves pitchers younger than 35, much less 30.
4. Andy Pettite looks like he never left. Let's hope he pitches like he never left (2003: 21-8, 4.02, 208 IP, 3-1 in the playoffs with 8 ER, 34 K in 34 1/3 IP).

I always knew that A-Rod had it in him to do something great and last year was just a stepping stone that hes finally getting through hopefully. I'll always be there for him because I've seen such great things from him.
