Afternoon Baseball

Common-sense ruminations on baseball and culture.

That was the story of Derek Jeter's lead-off ninth-inning at-bat against Jonathan Papelbon. A bunch of nice swings fouled back or to the side. That's the margin of error, something along a small fraction of an inch.

Good game for the Yankees in terms of mettle, but they really could use a win and not a consolation prize. We'll see. Bobby Abreu, fresh off his "make it look harder than it is" catch, can't catch up to the high heat.
