C.C. Sabathia is the best pitcher in baseball this year. Therefore, he's not going to be beaten. Chien-Ming Wang is a great pitcher, but really more of a 1A, or a 2+, much like Andy Pettitte. The greatest of these pitchers was probably Don Drysdale, so there's no shame in it.
What the Yankees need to do is view this as they viewed postseason series against Minnesota, Boston in 1999 or San Diego in 1998. You concede a loss, though you hope for a breakthrough, against a Johan Santana, a Pedro Martinez or a Kevin Brown, while optimistic you can be the superior team every other time out there.
I think this Yankees team can do that. But it's such an unpredictable setup. Let's just hope for the best -- specifically, the best of Andy Pettitte.
