Afternoon Baseball

Common-sense ruminations on baseball and culture.

You would think this is the biggest game that has ever happened.

And yes, it's big, and it's the latest into the season that unbeatens have met, but there's a lot being ignored today (CBS didn't help with its countdown clock as Carson Palmer was attempting a late drive down 12 to Buffalo -- Ian Eagle had declared the game over even though a sliver of chance remained. Luckily, Buffalo intercepted Palmer so that the narrative and switchover to the Pats-Colts wasn't disturbed).

Adrian Peterson ran for 296 yards for Minnesota, which I believe is an NFL record. Brett Favre somehow helped lead the Pack to a comeback win to make Green Bay 7-1. The NFL saw the longest gain possible for the first time today -- a 109-yard return of a missed field goal.

All I'm saying is that in a league that, in my eyes, has gotten progressively more boring outside of a few teams is having one hell of a Sunday.
