I was in the city two summers ago for an internship. There's a running/biking path that runs along both sides of the Mississippi. I lived but a few blocks from I-35W, and immediately recognized the area from the disturbing pictures the Star Tribune took.

Here's a view of what that bridge looked like July 21, 2005, as well as others here, here, and here.

It's a great city, and if any city can bounce back, it's this one. Still, it's literally a cut to the heart of the Twin Cities, location-wise. And it's just a sad event.
